SUMMARY / JOB PURPOSE
The Packaging Engineer I is responsible for providing technical oversight of pharmaceutical packaging operations at Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). The qualified candidate will have technical knowledge of packaging operations and some experience overseeing pharmaceutical packaging operations at external CMOs. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team‑based environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide on‑site/remote technical support for project activities such as commercial packaging, implementation/qualification of new packaging line equipment and introduction of component changes.
- Act as "person‑in‑plant" to oversee routine commercial packaging operations at CMOs as needed.
- Utilize technical expertise to troubleshoot packaging process issues.
- Provide support for packaging serialization implementation.
- Review and approve Master Packaging Records and executed packaging batch records, protocols and reports.
Oversight of work at external CMOs.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience:
Packaging operations for pharmaceutical products; on‑site technical support at CMOs, including oversight of packaging issues and investigations; collaboration with internal and external partners. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with MS Office and specialized applications; understanding of labeling and packaging operations (artwork, bottle filling, blistering, cartooning, printing and serialization); ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks with creativity and latitude; strong analytical and business communication skills; ability to present data and results concisely to relevant audiences.
Primarily working in laboratories or in office. The office is a modern, open‑plan space that fosters collaboration and creativity, with dual monitors and ergonomic chairs provided. 15% domestic or international travel required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITSBase pay range: $75,000 – $106,500 annually, adjusted for geographic region. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, discretionary annual bonus program (or sales‑based incentive plan if applicable), company stock purchase option, long‑term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in the first year, 17 paid holidays, up to 10 sick days per year.
