Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, and scale the next generation of our rare-earth reactors. The successful candidate will own designs from concept through commissioning, working closely with machinists and researchers to transform ideas into operating systems.

Responsibilities

+ Architect, model, and draw reactor subsystems, including thermal, vacuum, and materials handling, using CAD software (Fusion).

+ Specify components, tolerances, and materials suitable for high-temperature, corrosive, and vacuum environments.

+ Build and iterate on prototypes; conduct experiments and analyze data to inform design decisions.

+ Author procedures, test plans, and safety/operating documentation.

+ Collaborate with fabrication partners and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in CAD (Fusion) software.

+ Hands-on experience with metal machining and shop tools.

+

Experience with high-temperature systems and/or vacuum hardware.

+ Detail-oriented with the ability to execute technical tasks precisely.

+ Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, build-measure-learn environment.

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in chemistry is advantageous.

+ Availability to start soon is preferred.

Work Environment

You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced technologies and equipment. The role requires hands-on interaction with metal machining and vacuum systems, and you will be expected to adapt to a build-measure-learn workflow efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Alameda, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $250000.00/yr.
