Position Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Industrial Hygiene Field Lead to join our team in Alameda County. This role is ideal for a field‑driven IH professional who enjoys being on‑site, leading sampling and survey efforts, and mentoring junior staff. The position offers a steady pipeline of local project work, minimal travel outside the Bay Area, and strong support for continued certification and career growth into senior technical or project management roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead field representative on hazardous materials surveys and evaluations, including sampling of air, water, soil, and building materials.
  • Perform and oversee asbestos, lead‑based paint, and mold surveys in accordance with federal, state (Cal/OSHA, DTSC), and local regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and mentor junior field staff during sampling, abatement monitoring, and clearance activities – providing on‑the‑job training, quality oversight, and safety leadership.
  • Coordinate daily field logistics, including scheduling, equipment readiness, calibration, and chain‑of‑custody documentation.
  • Collect and document field data, prepare field notes and photo logs, and support project managers in the preparation of technical reports and abatement specifications.
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, and building occupants on‑site to communicate project scope, findings, and next steps.
  • Enforce site health and safety protocols and ensure compliance with project‑specific HASPs.
Required Qualifications
  • Active CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant) certification, or active CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician)
  • Demonstrated field experience conducting asbestos, lead, and mold surveys, as well as broader hazardous materials assessments.
  • Willingness to be in the field across a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and public sector project sites.
  • Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring junior field technicians or site staff.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations including Cal/OSHA, EPA, AHERA, NESHAP, and California Title 8/Title 17.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cal/OSHA‑certified Lead Inspector/Assessor (LI/A), Certified Mold Inspector (CMI) or Project Monitor credentials.
Travel
  • Up to 20%. Field work is concentrated locally in the greater Bay Area.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Bonus structure: Annual and quarterly performance‑based bonuses.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan.
  • Time off: Competitive PTO package.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
