Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Division Chief of Environmental Science and Engineering (DESE), and Environmental Program Manager II (EPM II), the incumbent serves as the Chief of the Office of Environmental Engineering, manages a staff comprised of Senior Transportation Engineers, Transportation Engineers, and Transportation Engineering Technicians. The incumbent provides support, guidance, and direction to staff on all Environmental Engineering matters.
The incumbent directs and manages technical professional engineering studies pertaining to hazardous waste, air quality, noise and greenhouse gases; provides leadership in creating and maintaining partnerships with state and federal resources and regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public. The incumbent attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and workshops to confer, advise, learn, and share technical and administrative information about project delivery and environmental compliance, as carried out by the Office to ensure it is meeting its mandated requirements and strategic objectives, as well as preparing the office to meet forthcoming statutory, regulatory, legislative and program changes.
The incumbent represents the District in matters of statewide significance. The incumbent may also serve as Acting Division Chief for DESE when delegated.
