Providing program oversight for Right of Way Engineering work related to Relinquishments and Vacations, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of final products submitted to the California Transportation Commission (CTC). Coordinating complex right of way engineering projects, including assisting in the preparation of appraisal maps, relinquishment maps, vacation maps, legal descriptions, and other required documents. Ensuring all right of way engineering activities are properly archived and memorialized;
developing and maintaining documentation standards and best practices. Conducting extensive research and analysis of federal, state, county, and city records to resolve complex title and boundary issues, including the interpretation of title reports and litigation guarantees. Acting as a liaison with internal divisions, headquarters, and external agencies; negotiating and communicating on behalf of the Division. Assisting in the preparation of official documents in compliance with the Land Surveyor’s Act.

Working ConditionsPosition located at 111 Grand Ave., Oakland, Alameda County. This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs.
Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.
All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
