Position: Occupational Therapy (OT)

Job Title

Occupational Therapist (Fulltime, 13 weeks or longer)

Job Purpose or Summary

Provides differential diagnosis for patients with functional disorders. Includes writing reports to contracted facilities and patients’ physicians. Plans, organizes, and conducts therapy programs in hospital, institutional, or community settings to rehabilitate those impaired by illness, injury, psychological or developmental problems. Assists patients, families, and restorative personnel to obtain information regarding the specific disorder(s) while in rehabilitation to facilitate recovery. Interacts regularly with other rehabilitation team members and nursing staff on the patients’ treatment plan, progress, and prognosis.

Evaluates patient progress and prepares detailed reports. Ensures required documentation is completed and placed timely. Tests and evaluates physical and mental abilities, analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provides differential diagnosis and written reports to facilities and physicians.
  • Establishes and carries out treatment programs based on diagnostic information to meet patients’ daily living needs.
  • Assists patients, families, and restorative personnel to obtain relevant information for recovery.
  • Interacts regularly with rehabilitation team and nursing staff on plan, progress, and prognosis.
  • Maintains rapport with administrative and nursing personnel in all facilities.
  • Assures all required documentation is completed and placed on time.
  • Submits logs and billing information promptly.
  • Reports any problem areas in facilities to the appropriate supervisor immediately.
  • Complies with State Licensing Board of California, Title 22, CMS, and California Labor Board Guidelines.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Licensure and Experience

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Occupational Therapy or related field and five years of experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Occupational Therapy or related field and no experience may be acceptable. Licensed Occupational Therapist for the State of California.
