Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Recruiter to support our growing construction operations in Alameda, California, and the greater Bay Area. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process for field and office-based positions, including skilled trades, project management, engineering, safety, and administrative roles. The ideal candidate understands the competitive Northern California labor market and can effectively source and hire top talent to meet project timelines and company growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities Full-Cycle Recruitment- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process from job requisition through onboarding.
- Partner with project managers and department leaders to understand workforce needs for active and upcoming projects across Alameda and the surrounding Bay Area cities.
- Create and post job advertisements on relevant job boards and industry platforms.
- Screen resumes, conduct phone and in-person interviews, and coordinate technical evaluations when necessary.
- Prepare and extend competitive employment offers aligned with Bay Area market conditions.
- Proactively source candidates for skilled trades (carpenters, electricians, laborers, heavy equipment operators), project managers, estimators, superintendents, and office staff.
- Build and maintain a strong local talent pipeline for high-demand construction roles.
- Develop relationships with Bay Area trade schools, apprenticeship programs, unions, and workforce development organizations.
- Attend local hiring events and community job fairs.
- Ensure compliance with California employment laws, prevailing wage requirements, and applicable union agreements.
- Stay current on California labor regulations, wage transparency laws, and local hiring requirements.
- Maintain accurate candidate records within the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Track and report recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and retention rates.
- Support workforce planning aligned with project schedules and seasonal labor fluctuations.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of recruiting experience, ideally within construction, engineering, or skilled trades.
- Experience recruiting in California or the Bay Area preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction roles and terminology.
- Knowledge of California employment laws and wage requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple open requisitions in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and recruitment tools.
- Experience recruiting in union and non-union environments.
- Familiarity with prevailing wage and public works hiring requirements in California.
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent).
Office-based in Alameda, CA, with periodic visits to active construction sites throughout the Bay Area. Occasional local travel required.
