Architect Motors is on a mission to revolutionize personal transportation in the developing world with a purpose-built electric motorcycle that combines cutting-edge engineering and tailored financing solutions. We benefit from the agility of a startup without the uncertainty of traditional venture capital, backed by stable, long-term funding. Our founders, alumni of MIT, UNSW, McKinsey, and Y Combinator, bring decades of EV development and production expertise to the table.
With ten years of hands-on experience across emerging markets, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver world-class electric mobility that’s both accessible and sustainable.
Role Summary
We’re building a new, affordable, lockable electric motorcycle for emerging markets — and your role will be to design and deliver the secure cloud platform that powers it. As our Senior Full Stack Engineer (Security & Fleet Platform), you’ll own the end-to-end development of our fleet management system — from back-end services and data pipelines to the web app and supporting admin tools.
In addition to the web platform, you’ll also collaborate on a companion mobile app used for vehicle access, diagnostics, and customer interactions. Prior mobile experience (e.g., React Native) is a plus — but not a hard requirement. You’ll help shape the cross-platform API surface and ensure the mobile experience integrates cleanly with the rest of the stack.
This is a hands-on build-from-scratch role with broad ownership over architecture, security, and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain the complete fleet management platform — backend APIs, web application, and supporting infrastructure
- Design and implement secure authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data
- Build a clean, responsive, and reliable front-end web application for customers and internal users
- Collaborate with mobile developers (and potentially contribute directly) to support a React Native–based mobile app for vehicle access and fleet operations
- Integrate backend services with embedded hardware systems, IoT data flows, and real-time vehicle telemetry
- Define and operate cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, logging, and system observability
- Work closely with embedded, electrical, and product teams to ensure tight hardware–cloud integration
- Provide leadership on technology choices, frameworks, and long-term platform architecture
- Support debugging, performance optimization, and platform hardening as the system scales
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production full-stack systems
- Strong proficiency in both front-end (React, Vue, or similar) and backend technologies (Node.js, Go, Python, or comparable)
- Expertise in authentication, encryption, and applied cryptography for web systems
- Experience designing reliable APIs, data models, and backend services
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers, and Dev Ops tooling
- Proven ability to deliver secure, maintainable, and scalable production software
- Startup mentality with strong ownership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on-site in Alameda, CA
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available)
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience building or contributing to mobile apps (e.g., React Native)
- Familiarity with IoT or telematics systems where hardware communicates with cloud services
- Experience with MQTT, Web Sockets, or real-time data processing
- Knowledge of hardware identity, key provisioning, or secure device onboarding
- Prior startup experience, ideally as the first/early full-stack engineer
- Interest in motorcycles, EVs, or emerging markets
- Competitive salary: $150,000–$200,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan with company match
- 20 days of paid annual time off plus 11 paid holidays
- A collaborative, growth-oriented startup atmosphere with opportunities for advancement
