Under general direction, the Fatherhood Program Manager leads the planning, coordination, and administration of the Alameda County Fathers Corps, a collaborative initiative that promotes and advocates for father-friendly services and supports fathers and father figures in being meaningfully engaged with their children and families. Working collaboratively with internal and external partners, the position supports program implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement to advance the goals and impact of the Fathers Corps.

The position also provides guidance and coordination to program consultants and Fathers Corps members but does not exercise direct supervision of staff.

Position Availability

Two (2) Fatherhood Program Manager positions are available. One of the two positions requires fluency in Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing. Spanish fluency is not required for the other position.

Candidates who wish to be considered for the Spanish-speaking position should indicate their Spanish language proficiency as part of the application process.

  • Plans, coordinates, and leads trainings and learning communities in collaboration with the agency's training team
  • Coordinates activities which further the integration and alignment of the Father-Friendly Principles ad programming with other agency initiatives
  • Collects and provides data for presentations, annual reports, and to demonstrate the impact of the Fathers Corps, and develops written communications and/or online content in collaboration with the Planning, Policy, and Evaluation & Technology teams as requested
  • Provides programmatic support, which includes but is not limited to, planning, coordinating, facilitating, and convening, the Interagency Fatherhood Workgroup, the Fatherhood Partnership, the Father-Friendly Provider Network, the Fatherhood Leadership Academy, and all efforts related to Fathers Corps’ activities
  • Ensures compliance with contract provisions and funding source regulations and sees that appropriate approvals are received
  • Recommends and facilitates implementation of procedural and operational changes
  • Develops and manages contracts as assigned, including development and compliance to budget and results based accountability (RBA) plans, as well as other agency process and procedures
  • Performs special projects such as conducting surveys, researching best practices and alternative funding streams; summarizes and analyzes data and prepares narrative or statistical reports and recommendations
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Additional experience and/or education can be substituted to meet typical qualifications. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in program management, administration, and development specific to the program area of assignment and completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a closely related field applicable to the position.

Additional relevant work experience may be substituted to meet the college coursework/bachelor's degree standard.

  • System barriers that prevent fathers from engaging with their children or utilizing services
  • Challenges fathers experience as parents
