Assistant Shop Manager - Alameda, CA

The Retail Assistant Manager will support the Shop Manager in achieving sales goals, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining operational excellence at South Shore Center.

• Assist the Shop Manager in providing effective leadership to the retail team, fostering a sales‑focused and customer‑focused environment.
• Set an example by achieving daily, monthly, and annual sales goals.
• Communicate and implement company direction, policies, and programs.
• Delegate tasks, ensure team compliance, and provide necessary follow‑up.
• Resolve customer and employee concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Train and develop team members on company programs, policies, and procedures.
• Provide support and feedback to team members to enhance performance and growth.
• Assist in recruitment efforts by identifying and recommending qualified candidates for employment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, ethical standards, and safety protocols.
• Monitor and control expenses to meet budgetary goals.
• Support cash handling, protection of company assets, and banking procedures.
• Maintain accurate timekeeping records and approve weekly payroll.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal wage and break laws.
• Create and implement weekly work schedules with the Shop Manager and District Sales Managers.
• Manage paperwork (banking, new hires, inventory) to meet deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum 1 year of retail management experience.
• Proven success in developing, motivating, training, and coaching employees.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills.
• Strong cash handling and merchandising ability.
• Ability to follow, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures.
• Strong work performance.
• Proven ability to grow the business by seeking sales opportunities and developing a sales‑driven team.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage change efficiently, proactively and positively.
• Physical ability to carry out essential job functions (packing candy, stocking shelves, ringing sales, standing or walking shifts, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently).
• Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays.

Pay rate: $24.87 per hour.
