Salary: $7,820.00–$10,732.00
- Organize and lead DTSC's component of the ongoing CUPA evaluation program, including internal and external coordination and dissemination of critical information.
- Perform Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) evaluations, prepare evaluation reports and attend evaluators’ meetings.
- Present evaluation findings, including deficiency tracking, analysis, and recommendations.
- Conduct oversight evaluations of CUPA staff to determine the effectiveness of the CUPA in implementing the hazardous waste generator and tiered permitting program.
- Maintain database of all CUPA evaluation–related data including key dates, milestones, deficiencies, corrective actions, and report closures.
- Coordinate and forward all reports to interested parties, including quarterly reports to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA).
- Work experience or internship in environmental or public health field.
- Experience conducting regulatory program evaluations, inspections, audits, or compliance reviews.
- Experience providing oversight, technical assistance, or regulatory guidance to local agencies, regulated entities, or program staff.
- Experience developing, implementing, or improving environmental, regulatory, or compliance programs, policies, procedures, or guidance documents.
- Environmental Laws/Regulations knowledge.
- Inspection/Enforcement experience.
- Ability to act in lead capacity, mentor, manage projects, review staff work, and/or provide technical or program consultation.
- Valid California Driver's License (CDL) – candidates must provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements or restrictions on application.
- A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required; applications without an SOQ may be disqualified. The SOQ should be no more than two pages, clearly written, well‑organized, and in Arial font, size 12.
