Senior Firmware Engineer

This is a hybrid on-site role in Alameda, CA; relocation assistance will be provided to nonlocal candidates!

Position Summary:

We are partnered with an exciting company developing fully implantable Class III medical devices at the forefront of therapeutic and diagnostic medicine. This is a hands‑on senior‑level role for an embedded software engineer who thrives in a highly technical, mission‑driven environment and wants their work to have real clinical impact.

• Design, develop, test, and optimize embedded software across the full product lifecycle
• Own BLE and RF firmware, power management systems, and ASIC interface development
• Build data infrastructure to efficiently route data from embedded processors to application software and cloud backend
• Own the embedded software verification process to medical regulatory standards
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, systems, and quality teams from concept through clinical readiness
• Contribute to Dev Ops activities and continuous improvement of software development processes

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 6+ years of C/C++ embedded development, or M.S. with 4+ years
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) for embedded platforms
• Working knowledge of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol stacks and wireless communication
• Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and/or ISO 13485 preferred
• Familiarity with test automation tools (Jenkins or similar) and Python for testing and prototyping a plus
