Public Trust clearance required W2 only Role Summary

Working under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor, this role provides moderately complex legal research and litigation support. While products are reviewed prior to submission, the specialist often develops work with minimal direct supervision. This position requires the ability to deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure and involves regular coordination with contractor staff and occasional contact with trial staff.

Education

& Qualifications

Minimum Education (One of the following):
  • Paralegal certificate.
  • Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Currently attending an ABA-accredited law school (having completed at least one year of study).
  • Equivalent level of legal training, experience, or education.
Required Experience
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience related to the task order.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Legal Expertise: Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources (specifically LEXIS and Westlaw).
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands‑on familiarity with ESI tools, eDiscovery procedures, and standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Adobe Acrobat).
  • Systems Knowledge:

    Experience with document review/file management databases, imaging, hardware systems
    , and electronic filing via the CM/ECF system
    .
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to compose original correspondence using specialized legal terminology.
  • Analytical Ability: Proficiency in verifying legal citations, proofreading for complex formatting, and integrating data (tables/charts) into legal documents.
  • Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Legal Document Preparation & Research
  • Prepare complex technical legal documents including indictments, warrants, motions, plea agreements, and trial subpoenas.
  • Perform moderately complex legal research and synopsize transcripts of hearings/oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Verify legal citations and statutory references for accuracy and consistency; proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs.
  • Develop tables of contents and indices for briefs, including lists of cited cases and opinions.
Trial & Case Support
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation by compiling witness/trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, and assembling jury instructions.
  • Review case materials to identify conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Coordinate with victim/witness specialists to ensure adherence to Departmental guidelines.
  • Prepare files for closing by ensuring all pleadings, investigative materials, and discovery are properly executed and archived.
Electronic Discovery & Database Management
  • Scan, input, and link case materials into electronic discovery databases.
  • Upload/download forensic reports, bank records, and audio/video files from law enforcement partners.
  • Manage discovery processing and production, including bates‑stamping and redacting materials using Adobe Acrobat or IPRO Eclipse.
  • Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned attorney.
Administrative & Docketing Functions
  • Maintain electronic case files and enter data into the case management system.
  • Perform docketing duties, track case filings, and generate reports to determine case status.
  • Manage calendars and deadlines using MS Outlook and arrange travel itineraries/vouchers.
  • Respond to inquiries from trial staff and refer urgent matters to the appropriate attorney.
