Position Summary

We seek an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves teaching and shares our dedication to students. This position is for a one-semester visiting faculty in Chemistry for the Fall 2026 semester. Major responsibilities include teaching Organic Chemistry with two labs and other courses equal to 12 semester hours of chemistry per semester and other duties as assigned by the department chair.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse faculty, staff, and students within the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and across campus. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to student-centered instruction.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field will be considered for the lecture position
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and student-centered learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work effectively with the educational needs of individuals and groups with a diverse range of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity of the university’s student population, including students with different abilities, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded, inclusive practices within the classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to honesty, efficacy, and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or ABD in chemistry or closely related field; individuals with a terminal degree will be considered for the visiting assistant professor position
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Experience using a variety of delivery methods for teaching
  • Ability or experience working with historically under-served and/or underrepresented populations, and first‑generation college students
  • Ability or experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underrepresented students, including students of color
  • Demonstrated self‑awareness of one's own cultural beliefs, perspectives, and privileges as part of one's orientation toward teaching
  • Demonstrated decision‑making that is informed by research, data, and theory and that leverages students' unique cultures, experiences, and background as strengths
Salary and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22,188–$31,649 commensurate with experience and education. The salary range reflects a minimum for an entry‑level lecturer to a maximum for an experienced assistant professor. In addition to salary, the university offers a competitive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
