Position Overview

This position is exclusively for day shift hours. The dispensing nurse (PT) is responsible for measuring and dispensing methadone and other medications in accordance with physicians' orders and in compliance with regulations set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH). The role also involves providing nursing services and maintaining medical records for the Opioid Treatment Program and related services.

Responsibilities
  • Measuring and dispensing methadone and other medications according to physicians’ orders and regulatory requirements.
  • Ordering, receiving, dispensing, and record‑keeping medication in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Providing nursing services and maintaining medical records for the Opioid Treatment Program.
  • Coordinating with program supervisors and counselors to ensure accurate dispensing of all medications per physician orders.
  • Dosing and documenting all methadone doses within scheduled clinic hours.
  • Reporting inconsistencies and problems regarding the handling of controlled substances to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area and immediately reporting any potential hazards to the immediate supervisor.
  • Observing patients for urine analyses.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Qualifications
  • LPN or RN license for the state of Colorado or a multi‑state license.
  • Continuing education in human services, psychology, or related fields is required.
  • Preferred prior experience in the substance use treatment field.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws regarding medication dispensing, storage, and accountability.
  • Basic Computer Skills Are Required.
Physical Demands

The position may require bending and lifting. The maximum weight for any moving requirement should not exceed 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

Responsibilities are performed in the clinic.
