RN - Oncology

Oncology Nurse

Profession: Registered Nurse

Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified

Hours per Shift: 8 hours

Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred

License: Active state or Compact license required

Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)

Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred

Must-Have: Patient ratio experience of 3

Description:

This position involves providing care to oncology patients.

The registered nurse will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and managing ports.

Experience with charting systems is preferred.

Skills in patient/family education and support are essential.

The nurse will monitor patients for side effects of chemotherapy.

Knowledge of managing acute tumor lysis syndrome is required.

The role involves care coordination and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Candidates should be skilled in IV push administration of chemotherapy and other medications.

Experience with blood product administration is also necessary.

The position requires adherence to isolation precautions and safety protocols.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

The ability to recognize and manage side effects of treatment is critical.

Familiarity with patient diagnoses related to cancer and hematologic conditions is important.

The candidate should have experience working in inpatient oncology settings.

Participation in chemotherapy administration and central line care is essential.

Strong phlebotomy skills are required.

The nurse will need to manage patient education regarding treatment plans.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong assessment skills and understanding of advanced directives are necessary.

Experience with outpatient oncology is a plus.

The role may involve managing symptoms related to various cancers.
