POSITION SUMMARYThe Child Care Caseworker provides administrative, programmatic, and client‑support services for the Child Care Program and Workforce Development (WFD) under Public Law 102‑477. This position supports participants in achieving self‑sufficiency, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures compliance with program policies and regulations. The Caseworker collaborates closely with WFD staff and partner agencies, manages multiple tasks with attention to detail, and contributes to continuous workflow improvement.
This position reports directly to the WFD Director or designee.
- Encourages and supports participant self‑sufficiency by providing guidance, resources, and referrals through WFD programs.
- Collaborates with WFD staff and partner agencies to ensure compliance with program regulations and maintain an accurate, up‑to‑date caseload.
- Develops working knowledge of Public Law 102‑477, with emphasis on Child Care Program policies, procedures, allowable costs, and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts internal file audits, assists with budget tracking, and supports preparation of reports and documentation in coordination with WFD staff.
- Organizes provider trainings and special projects that promote education, employment readiness, and increased self‑sufficiency for Maniilaq Service Area Tribal Members.
- Processes payments for all 477 programs in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Travels as required for trainings, conferences, home visits, and client services.
- Schedules and coordinates annual trainings and meetings for 477 participants.
- Exercises delegated authority to act in the absence of the Child Care Case Manager or designee.
- Researches, organizes, and presents information to support logistical improvements and strengthen internal processes.
Minimum Requirements Child Care Caseworker I
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of administrative assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Demonstrated ability to type accurately and utilize computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; willingness to train in the department’s case management software.
Valid Alaska driver’s license (or ability to obtain within three months of hire) with a driving record that meets Maniilaq Association insurance requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and apply state and federal policies, laws, and statutes.
Child Care Caseworker IIMeets all qualifications of Child Care Caseworker I plus one (1) additional year of work experience in the Child Care Program or Workforce Development Programs.
Demonstrated ability to assist with, complete, and maintain program reports and documentation in accordance with program standards.
Child Care Caseworker IIIMeets all qualifications of Child Care Case Worker II plus one (1) additional year of work experience in the Child Care Program or Workforce Development Programs (total of two additional years beyond Caseworker I).
Demonstrated ability to edit, maintain, and improve internal processes, including collaboration with software program staff to support system accuracy and workflow efficiency.
