The Construction Manager plays a key role in bringing projects to life, supporting on-site construction teams with energy, expertise, and a focus on safety and quality. You’ll coordinate field operations from start to finish, ensuring every project runs smoothly, on schedule, and meets approved plans and specifications. This role involves coordinating with contractors, managing schedules, reviewing project details, estimating costs, tracking deliverables, and making sure work aligns with both client expectations and Federal funding source requirements.

No two days are the same. You may even roll up your sleeves to test construction materials or help the crew verify on-site construction staking. If you thrive on problem-solving, teamwork, and seeing a multitude of projects in a remote Alaskan environment, this role offers the perfect mix of problem solving, leadership, and hands-on engagement.

What You’ll Do
  • Report directly to a proHNS Senior Civil Engineer while working in side-step with Client-owned construction crews, in this case, a Tribal Agency Department of Transportation.
  • Coordinate daily with construction crews, subcontractors, and field operations.
  • Review project plans, permits, and specifications to ensure work meets standards.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure conformance with project requirements.
  • Track and update project budgets and report on expenditures.
  • Sample and test construction materials in the field, such as concrete, aggregates, and in-place density of compacted materials. Coordinate off-site laboratory testing as needed.
  • Coordinate, review, interpret, and check construction surveying and staking.
  • Help ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work site.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of highway and/or bridge construction experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role (Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Engineer, or Foreman).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered plans, technical specifications, and permits.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, site maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal construction standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Experience on FHWA-funded projects is a plus.
  • Ability to review and interpret submittals, develop and implement work plans, and ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • AK-CESCL certification or experience performing erosion and sediment control inspections.
Perks & Culture
  • Supportive, team-first environment
  • 100% employer-paid medical, Dental, Vision, short-term and Long-Term Disability, and AD&D
  • 401(k) with up to 4% employer match
  • Paid time off, Paid Sick Leave, + 9 holidays
  • Licensure, training, and certification support
  • Relocation stipend
  • Annual performance bonuses
