Job Description
NANA Construction is hiring for a dependable and safety-focused construction professional with a Class A or B CDL, Tanker and Haz Mat endorsements, and a current HAZWOPER certification to support civil construction projects in remote Alaska. This position is hands‑on and field‑based, combining general labor duties with operation of CDL‑required vehicles. The ideal candidate is comfortable working long hours in challenging weather conditions, following strict safety protocols, and living and working in remote camp environments.
Responsibilities- Perform general civil construction labor duties including:
- Site preparation, cleanup, and material handling.
- Assisting equipment operators, carpenters, welders, and foremen.
- Shoveling, grading, and hand‑tool work as required.
- Operate CDL‑required vehicles, including tanker trucks, to transport:
- Fuel, water, concrete, or other regulated materials.
- Hazardous and non‑hazardous materials in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Load, unload, and secure materials safely and properly.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, and required documentation.
- Perform daily equipment inspections.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and site‑specific requirements.
- Work safely in extreme weather and uneven terrain.
- Immediately report all incidents/accidents, no matter how small, to their supervisor.
- Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in civil construction, environmental work, or industrial labor required.
- Valid Class A or B CDL.
- Tanker (N) and Haz Mat (H) endorsements.
- Current HAZWOPER certification (40‑hour preferred; 8‑hour refresher acceptable if current).
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety and hazardous materials handling.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and rotational schedules.
- Ability to live and work in remote Alaska locations for extended periods.
- Experience working in remote or camp‑based projects
- Arctic or cold‑weather construction experience
- Spill response or environmental remediation experience
- Equipment operation experience (loader, excavator, skid steer, etc.)
Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint.
