HSE Advisor
The HSE Advisor serves as the on-site Health, Safety, and Environmental professional supporting drilling and field operations across the Alaska North Slope. This position is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, supporting incident prevention and investigation efforts, and providing leadership and coaching to field personnel on safe work practices.
The HSE Advisor partners closely with rig management, operations leadership, and client representatives to identify hazards, mitigate risk, and ensure safe execution of all work activities.

Rotation: 14x14 or 21x21 - subject to change and rig assignment
Responsibilities- Safety Leadership & Culture
- Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture through visible field leadership, coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Rig Managers, Toolpushers, and Operations leadership on HSE-related matters.
- Champion Stop Work Authority (SWA) and ensure employees understand and exercise their responsibility to intervene when unsafe conditions or behaviors exist.
- Conduct field-level safety coaching and behavioral observations focused on hazard recognition and risk mitigation.
- Facilitate daily safety discussions, weekly safety meetings, client safety initiatives, and workforce engagement activities.
- Lead and support safety campaigns, lessons learned communications, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Operational Risk Management
- Review and support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, permits, and work plans.
- Manage and monitor Permit-to-Work programs, including energy isolation (LOTO), hot work, confined space entry, and other critical risk activities.
- Verify implementation of critical risk controls associated with:
- Dropped Object Prevention
- Working at Heights
- Energy Isolation (LOTO)
- Confined Space Entry
- Lifting and Hoisting Operations
- Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Safety
- Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS)
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and safety observations to verify compliance and effectiveness of controls.
- Identify emerging risks and work with operations leadership to implement corrective measures.
- Incident Management & Compliance
- Support incident notification, reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Facilitate incident review meetings and ensure lessons learned are communicated throughout the organization.
- Track and monitor corrective actions resulting from incidents, audits, inspections, observations, and regulatory findings.
- Assist with client audits, corporate audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Provide guidance regarding OSHA, EPA, DOT, Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH), and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensure operational compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Environmental Stewardship
- Monitor compliance with environmental permits, waste management requirements, spill prevention measures, and environmental protection programs.
- Support environmental reporting and incident response activities as required.
- Promote environmental awareness and stewardship among field personnel.
- Assist with environmental inspections and compliance assessments.
- Training & Workforce Development
- Conduct employee, contractor, and visitor safety orientations.
- Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs and refresher training.
- Work closely with Training and Operations departments to identify competency gaps and support workforce development initiatives.
- Mentor supervisors and employees on safe work practices and hazard awareness.
- Support emergency response training, drills, exercises, and readiness programs.
- Contractor & Client Management
- Support contractor management processes, including onboarding, orientation, compliance monitoring, and performance expectations.
- Interface directly with client HSE representatives and participate in joint inspections, audits, and safety initiatives.
- Represent Nabors' HSE interests professionally with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in management site visits and client leadership engagements.
- HSE Metrics & Reporting
- Utilize electronic HSE reporting systems to document:
- Incidents
- Near Misses
- Safety Observations
- Hazard Reports
- Inspections
- Training Records
- Corrective Actions
- Analyze and report leading and lagging indicators, including:
- Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
- Near Miss Trends
- Safety Observations
- Hazard Identification Metrics
- Audit Findings
- Training Compliance
- Corrective Action Closure Rates
- Develop reports and recommendations to improve HSE performance across Alaska operations.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Support emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
- Participate in emergency drills and exercises.
- Serve as a first responder or emergency response team member as required.
- Assist management during emergency response events and investigations.
