JOB SUMMARY

Serves as working crew superintendent / foreman during the on-site development, installation and cleanup of Weatherization or other construction projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform as on-site working supervisor of a construction/weatherization crew. Meet production schedules and quality standards for assigned project.
  • Maintain required documentation for all materials and labor used to complete each assigned home/project. This includes day-to-day record of material usage, labor hours / time sheets and local purchases.
  • Assist the WX Manager in providing accountability and security of materials, equipment and supplies. May be assigned to inventory the bulk materials delivery upon arrival at the work site.
  • Ensure work site is clean upon completion of work. Ensures all trash is disposed of properly.
  • Provide on the job training as required and assists the WX Manager in providing community training workshops. Maintain a safe work environment by providing aggressive oversight to minimize work place hazards; ensuring workers receive appropriate safety training and consistently monitor work crews to ensure safety rules are being followed. Consistently monitoring crews during work hours for proper PPE.
  • Perform home assessments under the supervision of a WX Manager. Assist in developing the project work plan, facilitate energy modeling, and master materials list.
  • Reports to WX Manager.
  • May be assigned to different project locations during the construction season to support production and labor needs as required.

  • Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with current program standards, laws, or regulations.

  • Able to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing to a diverse audience so they will understand .
  • Able to read, comprehend and follow established policies and procedures.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, crew members, local officials, and the general public.
JOB CONDITIONS
  • Agency is a mandated drug and alcohol free workplace.
  • Must know proper lifting techniques and be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Spend up to 30 days at a time in rural Alaska.
  • Able to endure work fluctuations, deadlines, and interruptions.
  • Performs large motor activities requiring considerable movement of the whole body such as climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, lifting and carrying large heavy items.
  • Performs fine motor activities requiring handling, installing, positioning and moving small items, and manipulating small pieces.
  • Must be able to work weekends, and long hours during peak work periods.
  • Capable of enduring variable outdoor temperatures and working conditions.
  • Possibility of exposure to dust, mold and lead-based paint.
  • Travel in and outside of Alaska may be required for training.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
