Overview
Front Desk Agent - MFWAK job t Wainwright, AK. The Front Desk Agent is the first and ongoing point of contact for guests, handling transactions, offering local insights, and ensuring a friction-free experience while creating a warm, home-like atmosphere.
Responsibilities- Acknowledge IHG Rewards Club members and returning guests in person or on the phone.
- Take and manage guest bookings, identify up-selling opportunities, and communicate ways to improve a guest’s stay.
- Handle cash and credit transactions; manage check-ins and check-outs (collect IDs, issue room keys, and control safety deposit boxes).
- Record and act on guest preferences; handle messages, requests, questions, and concerns; serve as a trusted contact for guests.
- Assist with bill issues and provide local knowledge; involve management when necessary.
- Adhere to safety procedures and report incidents; wear required protective gear.
- Maintain a professional appearance and act as a brand ambassador.
- Be aware of daily events and activities; assist with ad-hoc duties as needed.
- Availability to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; shifts may vary, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Strong communication skills; ability to handle guest concerns and compliments effectively.
- Problem-solving skills to turn issues into positive guest experiences.
- Fluency in the local language is preferred but not essential; additional languages are a plus.
- Literate and tech-savvy with reading, writing, basic math, and computer skills.
- Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college/university degree is a bonus but not required.
- Experience:
ideally at least one year in a front desk or guest service role. - Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg) with bending/kneeling as needed.
