Position: Dental Hygienist - Sign On and Relo! HOT JOB
Location: Klawock

Pay Range: $54.60 - $76.93 per hour. $25,000 Sign On and $10,000 Relocation for a qualified hire. Plus $20,000 annual geographic differential on top of base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide age‑specific prevention and curative periodontal and dental care for SEARHC patients, performing hygiene services on infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
  • Provide patient education in oral disease prevention, emphasizing oral hygiene, home care and nutrition.
  • Examine oral tissues, perform periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, apply topical fluoride, measure periodontal pockets and record x‑rays.
  • Record patient vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature).
  • Manage patient schedule and coordinate dental prevention activities, including health fairs, sealant clinics and Head Start clinics.
  • Maintain hygienist supplies and instruments, including sterilization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. No supervisory responsibilities.
Education, Certifications & Licenses
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Active Dental Hygiene License in the State of Alaska or another U.S. State (Alaska State Hygiene License preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 45 days of start and maintained thereafter.
  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
  • High‑Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of proper infection control techniques.
  • Understanding of principles of dental and periodontal disease and appropriate treatment therapies.
  • Proficiency with dental instruments and clinical hygiene techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Accurate clinical judgment and ability to sit over a patient for extended periods.
  • Good dexterity with hands.
