We are seeking a Rural Family Medicine Physician to serve as a clinical resource across SEARHC's village health system, providing comprehensive primary care, mentorship, and support for Community Health Aide Practitioners (CHA/Ps), Physician Assistants, and local care teams. This unique role offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum rural medicine while traveling to communities throughout Southeast Alaska, including Kake, Angoon, Hoonah, Gustavus, and other villages as needed.

The new $300 million Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center opened in Sitka, April 2026 and in 2021 we opened the $30 million Wrangell Medical Center, located in Wrangell. With plans to build a third critical-access hospital in Haines. In addition to the dozens of established outpatient and traveling clinics throughout the region.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary range based on experience and 0.5 FTE: $ -

Workweek:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with telemedicine included and four hours of administrative time. Typically scheduled in two-week village practice blocks each month. Travel schedule planned approximately three months in advance Call:
Up to five call shifts per month while onsite and available for village support
- Non-paneled position focused on supporting village patient populations
- Average daily volume of approximately 12-15 patients
- Typical appointment lengths of 30 minutes
- Clinical support varies by location and may include MAs, RNs, CHA/Ps, case managers, laboratory staff, and radiology personnel
- Typically 1-5 providers onsite depending on clinic location
- Meditech EMR with Dragon and DAX AI documentation tools
