Northwest Arctic Borough School District (NWABSD) is dedicated to providing a learning environment that inspires and challenges students and staff to excel, with a vision of graduating all students equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for a successful future. NWABSD operates schools in 11 remote Alaskan villages, serving approximately 1,850 students, 90% of whom are Inupiaq Eskimo. Schools are governed by an eleven-member Regional School Board, with additional Advisory School Councils in each village. The district prioritizes cultural integration, quality education, and community engagement.
This is a full-time, on-site Elementary School Teacher role based in Kivalina, Alaska. The teacher will develop and implement engaging and culturally responsive lesson plans, deliver quality instruction in core subjects, and assess student progress to ensure academic growth. Additional responsibilities include fostering a respectful and inclusive classroom environment, collaborating with fellow educators and stakeholders, and maintaining communication with parents and the community to support student success.
Qualifications- Proficiency in Teaching and Elementary Education practices
- Expertise in Curriculum Development and lesson planning
- Strong Communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for fostering student growth in educational settings
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; teaching certification preferred
- Experience with diverse or Indigenous student populations is an advantage
- Ability to adapt to remote living and embrace Alaskan culture and community
