Responsible for implementing a preschool program for children ages 3-5 years.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Associates Degree required.

Valid Child Development Asociate preferred.

Bilingual in English and Yup’ik preferred.

Three years successful experience in early childhood or an elementary classroom and/or 3 years experience in a home visiting program required.

Obtain & maintain First Aid/CPR certification within 2 months of hire.

Able to lift 40 pounds.

Pass a criminal background check that meets required State and Federal laws.

Align with NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements (48 semester hours or Associate Degree or pass State-Approved Academic Competency test).

Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.

Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.

Duties

Confers with parents regarding preschool goals and objectives.

Establishes two-way communication with community agencies and organizations that may be of assistance to parents and children.

Establish, coordinate, and conducts preschool parent committee meetings.

Implements curriculum, establish and maintains schedules, and coordinates activities for preschool children.

Maintains and submits accurate records and reports as required.

Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled.

Assists with training of preschool staff.

Coordinates and administers screening of children in the preschool program.

Performs other duties as assigned.
