Job Summary
The College, Career, and Life Graduation Coach provides leadership, coordination, and student-centered support to ensure the successful implementation, sustainability, and continuous improvement of high school CCL board goals and guardrails for the Anchorage School District. Under the direction of the Teaching and Learning secondary director, the CCL graduation coach aligns school initiatives, district supports, workforce data, and community partnerships to ensure all students graduate prepared for college, career, and life.

The CCL graduation coach serves as a member of the school leadership team and acts as a strategic liaison among school staff, students, families, business and industry partners, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations. The position supports career technical education pathway development, work-based learning, student graduation monitoring, data analysis, and program evaluation to increase student engagement, achievement, and graduation outcomes.

This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate. The number of workdays is based upon the AEA negotiated pay scale. Information on the pay scale can be found online on our Labor Relations Department website. Positions that are 0.50 FTE to 1.0 FTE are associated with the Alaska Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), positions that are 0.40 to 0.49 FTE are associated with the Alaska Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

Positions that are 0.39 FTE or less are not eligible for state retirement benefits.

Job Requirements
The following are required:
  • A bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, career technical education, or a related field.
  • A valid Alaska initial, professional, or master teaching certificate, or type c special services certificate.
  • Experience working with secondary students, including at-risk youth.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and apply student data to inform interventions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build partnerships with community and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • The following are preferred:
  • A master's degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience in career academies, CTE programs, or small learning community models.
  • School counseling or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of workforce development systems and postsecondary pathways.
  • Experience coordinating work-based learning programs.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral systems.
  • Experience with assessment, evaluation, intervention planning, and record maintenance.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and accreditation processes.
  • Essential Job Functions
    CTE Pathway Implementation and Strategic Leadership
  • Serves as a member of the school leadership team and CTE Pathways.
  • Leads and supports implementation of district CCL board goals and guardrails as related to CTE Pathways.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on CCL goals, on track data, and pathway implementation timelines.
  • Collaborates with district leadership to align CTE coursework with accreditation standards, workforce projections, and employer/industry needs.
  • Supports master scheduling to ensure equitable student access to CTE Pathways.
  • Participates in, as necessary, district CTE meetings, industry councils, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Student Recruitment, Placement, and Graduation Support
  • Coordinates recruitment, application, and placement of students into CTE Pathways.
  • Monitors student on track status using attendance, behavior, academic performance, and credit attainment data.
  • Collaborates with counselors and administrators to develop intervention plans for students at risk of not graduating.
