Head of School – School of Art
The College of Fine Arts and the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) seek a collaborative and strategic leader to serve as the next Head of School. The School of Art combines a renowned studio program with the interdisciplinary resources of a cutting‑edge research university, bridging traditional studio practice with experimental practices of new and unconventional media. The School offers Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees, along with four interdisciplinary BXA Intercollege Degree Programs, and serves an inclusive community of approximately 250 students from around the world.
As Head, you will build on the school’s recent innovations in curriculum, program revitalization, and new spaces. You will champion a cutting‑edge, responsive institution, nurture faculty and staff, and cultivate generative partnerships with students. You will be a passionate believer in art and its educational power, a gifted communicator, entrepreneurial in nature, and a tireless advocate for the school.
