Intern Teacher Credential And Master Of Arts In Teaching (Mat) Program
The Intern Teacher Credential and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program is situated within the Graduate Studies program, which is a part of Reach Teachers College. The Intern/MAT program hires for the following contracted roles each year, depending on need.
Please read through the brief description of each role. In the application, you will be able to mark which specific role(s) you are applying for. Please note that we may not hire for each position every semester, but we will keep your application on file for when we do.
- Professor of Practice (Core Courses)
- Professors of Practice serve as the instructors of the programs' graduate-level core courses. In this role, professors adapt provided lesson materials for their assigned cohort and facilitate weekly synchronous online seminars. Additionally, professors assess candidate learning, provide timely feedback, and communicate with candidates and staff as needed to support learning.
- 610 Professor of Practice
- INT 610 is the preservice course that candidates must successfully complete in order to be recommended for their intern credential and continue into the fall Intern Program course. This 8-week course is mostly asynchronous; candidates access content by engaging in learning modules on Canvas. The role of the professor is to grade work and provide timely feedback, hold weekly office hours to support candidates, and communicate with candidates and staff as needed to support learning.
- Field Supervisor
- This field supervisor is responsible for coaching candidates in the Intern Teacher Credential Program. For each candidate they coach, field supervisors conduct six observation cycles per semester, for a total of twelve observations per year. Field supervisors support candidates to integrate coursework to their teaching praxis, to pass the CalTPA, and to apply an inquiry lens to their practice as they pursue equitable outcomes for their students.
- MAT Professor of Practice/Adjunct Faculty
- The MAT Professor of Practice/Adjunct Faculty Member develops a 5-week elective course designed to both complement and supplement the core courses in the Intern Program. They then teach this 5-week course synchronously over the summer.
- Contracted District Employed Supervisor
- The District Employed Supervisor (DES) is responsible for providing consistent support and supervision to candidates throughout their time in the Intern Program. Typically, school sites provide the district-employed supervisor to their candidate, but in the event that they cannot provide that match, they may contract out a DES through Reach.
Please note:
You must hold a valid clear CA credential in order to fill this role.
