Infant/Toddler Teacher
Location:
Philadelphia, PA | Full-Time | On-Site
Age Group:
Infants and Toddlers (6 weeks – 12 months)
We are looking for a nurturing, curious, and relationship-centered educator to join our infant/toddler team. This role is more than caregiving — it is the foundation of a child's entire learning journey. The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 6 weeks to 24 months. You will plan and implement individualized experiences rooted in early brain development, build partnerships with families, and document each child's growth using our Brightwheel platform.
Key Responsibilities- Implement a consistent daily schedule that supports infants' and toddlers' individual routines and developmental stages
- Provide responsive, nurturing care including feeding, diapering, and comforting in alignment with DHS regulations
- Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities grounded in PA Early Learning Standards with co-teacher
- Document observations, milestones, and daily reports via Brightwheel with timeliness and accuracy
- Communicate proactively and professionally with families using our Brightwheel platform
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment in compliance with DHS licensing standards
- Participate in staff meetings, department sessions, and required professional development
- Support transition planning as children move into the toddler and preschool rooms
All candidates must meet Pennsylvania Department of Human Services requirements for child care staff:
Clearances (required prior to hire):
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Check
Health Requirements:
- Current TB test (within 2 years)
- Physical/health assessment within 12 months of hire
Training:
- Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
- Mandated Reporter training
- 12 hours of annual professional development per PA DHS requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred, or actively pursuing
- College coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field a plus
- Prior experience working with infants and toddlers strongly preferred
- Genuine passion for infant and toddler development and the science of early brain growth
- Warm, patient, and responsive temperament — especially during high-need moments
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based classroom setting
- Reliable, painless, and professional in all interactions with families and colleagues
- Comfortable using technology tools for communication and documentation (Brightwheel experience a plus)
