Location: Fort Greely

APTIM is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with DOD (Department of Defense) experience, Work experience shall include managing and/or implementing safety and health programs on projects related to radiological contamination, hazardous waste cleanup, and/or hazardous facility demolition sites.

The candidate will be responsible for implementing, and administering health, safety & environmental protection programs affecting occupational health, employee and public safety, incident investigation and loss control, responsible environmental practices and equipment & property protection.

** Responsibilities:*
* + Communicates and coordinates activities with the Project Manager and Site Manager but reports to the Project Safety and Health Manager (SHM)

+ Manages the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program and safety assessment documents that will support all work activities performed on a complex decommissioning and demolition (D&D), remediation, and radiological project.

+ Specify proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and resources necessary to ensure health and safety workers

+ Observe work in progress to verify safe and compliant daily operations

+ Conduct weekly safety audits, complete required documentation, and identify improvement areas/corrective actions as appropriate

+ Coordinate with the Project Manager and Site Manager regarding control of existing/potential physical, industrial, and/or chemical hazards.

+ Conduct hazard analyses and initiate controls to support operations.

+ Be a resource to the project regarding HSE compliance with applicable federal, state, local, client, and APTIM rules and regulations.

+ Manage industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and environmental compliance activities at work location.

+ Communicate program HSE performance to project leadership.

+ Assist with HSE site investigations.

+ Perform HSE assessments and ensures completion of daily site inspections.

+ Performs duties in accordance with company HSE program procedures and the site-specific HSE plans.

+ Reports and documents incidents and issues related to site safety.

+ Coordinates daily site-wide tasks with Project Supervisors addressing safety concerns and resolutions.

+ Supervises site monitoring activities.

+ Ensures all training for site is accomplished and current.

+ Assists with client safety meetings.

+ Participates in project work planning meetings.

+ Preparing and presenting daily safety meetings.

+ Travel and work outdoors as required.

** Qualifications/Competencies/

Experience:

* + Able to demonstrate the ability to work with client and organizational leadership to set priorities, solidify relationships, while possessing the ability to ensure company and client compliance with APTIM HSE procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and other job-specified procedures or standards

+ Knowledge of State, Federal (EM 385-1-1), and industry standards, directives, and regulations.

+ Experience working in and around low-level radiological areas preferred.

+ Proven ability to perform tasks independently and develop innovative solutions to problems.

+ Able to independently organize own work to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing assigned duties.

+ Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

+ Able to be medically qualified (HAZWOPER physical), including respiratory clearance, by evaluating the ability to wear a respirator.

** Candidate must possess:*
* + Minimum of 5 years of continuous experience implementing safety procedures at hazardous waste cleanup and/or hazardous facility demolition operations

+ OSHA 30-hr certification…
