Job Description
Job Summary:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and administering our customer’s computer network. The primary duties include implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of network infrastructure, telephony, and CCTV systems, securing the customer network, and performing disaster recovery operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical management and implementation of Information Technology approved network and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Assist IT Management and Client staff in the development of standard Information Technology policy.
- Review client change or enhancement requests with management.
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer across coworkers and management relative to on-site support.
- Assist in the development of Service Level Agreements.
- Work diligently towards achieving Service Level Agreements for contracted services.
- Develop and document repeatable processes aligned with industry best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in related field, preferably with a network engineering focus
- Five years hands on experience programming and installing network and telecommunications equipment.
- Network security experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure and telecommunications devices, including, but not limited to, wireless access points, routers, and switches.
- VOIP Experience a plus
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation.
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside the IT organization.
- Able to work independently and/or as part of a team.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Dependable and flexible.
Work Environment:
- Fast paced environment within customer setting.
- Travel between County buildings is common and expected
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to be on the go for most of the day; a very active position
- Will require heavy lifting (such as UPSes, servers, etc.)
- Will require after hours support
