This is a 6-month Co-op opportunity starting January 6th 2025 through June 27th 2025. We are seeking students currently enrolled in an undergraduate academic program. A relocation stipend is available! WHO YOU ARE:
Minimum Qualifications- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent degree from an accredited university
- Aspen Plus or Aspen HYSYS experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Hardworking, innovative, resourceful, organized, multi-tasker, and a self‑starter
- Experience using AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Microsoft Visio software
- Experience working in a chemistry lab, chemical plant, or production environment
- Has taken the following courses by the start date of the position: reaction design, separations, fluid mechanics
Salary: $30 – $38 per hour

High School (but a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering is required)
YOUR ROLE:
The Chemical Engineer Co‑op sits within the Process Development group located in Hometown, PA. In this role you will be working closely with the Laboratory, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial groups and will be performing all duties consistent with new product development activities that drive new profitable products toward commercialization.
- Commissioning, starting up, and operating pilot production plants with engineers and operators
- Working with scale‑up engineers to complete engineering project deliverables such as: preparing project proposals which will include developing detailed scope descriptions, PFDs, P&IDs, cost estimates, concept drawings, and project schedules
- Working with chemists in the lab to screen synthesis routes and evaluate various unit operations for scale‑up
- Participating in Design Hazard Reviews
- Working closely with vendors and contractors on design and fabrication during project execution
- Developing process models using Aspen Plus to simulate process hydraulics, kinetics, and evaluate opportunities to increase plant operational efficiency
- Proactively and routinely detailing results and giving oral project status presentations
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
