Position: SUPERVISORY CHIEF ENGINEER with Security Clearance
Location: Hoonah

Duties
* Plans, organizes, and oversees the engineering activities for development or sustainment of all major systems or smaller multiple systems within the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center.
* Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors.
* As a professional engineer, performs work in the application of multiple engineering disciplines to support the design, development, procurement, production, testing, evaluation, sustainment or operational maintenance of an AF or DoW-level major system with specialized applications.
* Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Requirements Conditions of employment

Direct Deposit:

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level is required. An advanced engineering degree, such as a master's or a PhD is preferred.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft;
This position is a designated national security position.
* The employee is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance. This posn is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive (CONT)
* information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the posn . A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. A favorable suitability determination is required before appointment.
* The employee is required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (CONT)
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* The employee is required to possess a valid operator's license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as overtime, weekends, callback, uncommon tour of duty, holidays, etc. May be required to carry a phone
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Engineering Series 0801;
General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences Series 0401;
General Physical Science Series 1301;

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and of system engineering and efforts required to achieve and preserve operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness (OSS&E) in systems or end-items;
