Assistant Engineer

991 Ballyhoo Road Dutch Harbor, AK, 99692, United States Day Rate: $450-$750 Maritime Talent Solutions is actively seeking ambitious Assistant Engineers ready to advance their careers. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in salvage, towing, emergency response, and operations aboard conventional ocean-going tug/anchor handling vessels, especially within mainland US Coastal Waters, the Gulf of Mexico, and the NW Pacific/Alaska regions.

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an Assistant Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Engineer in the maintenance and efficient operation of all ship machinery.
  • Participate in engine room procedures and assist in engineering tasks.
  • Help maintain essential engine stores and assist in bunker operations.
  • Contribute to the daily management of machinery and perform maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Stand engine room watch, maintain logs, and assist in keeping machinery in prime condition.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship with a valid passport and current USCG License for Assistant Engineer with endorsements.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Assistant Engineer with a history of standing independent engine room watches.
  • Familiarity with USCG/ABS/ISM/ISPS regulations applicable to ocean-going tugs.
  • Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 100 lbs and operating in various environmental conditions.
  • Experience with specific engine types and marine equipment is preferred.

Travel:
The position requires onboard duties and may include international travel based on the vessel's schedule.
