Senior level electrical engineering position focusing on the performance of both routine and complex activities and tasks related to the design of high voltage substations (15kv to 765kv). Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization to resolve important questions. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of own field and related disciplines.

The knowledge and expertise required for this level usually results from progressive experience.

• Estimating, engineering, and design analysis for new and retrofit switchyard and substation projects up to 765kV
• Design and modify physical design, specify and layout major equipment and structures required for high voltage switchyards and substations
• Drawing requirements included Site Plans, Plan and Elevation Views, Grounding, Conduit, Lighting and control building arrangements and details, AC Station Service, DC Systems and Bills of Material
• Perform calculations such as short circuit grounding, voltage drop, circuit ampacities, lightning protection analysis, bus calculations, transformer and bus sizing calculations, fault calculations, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing calculations
• Prepare material specifications and provide procurement support
• Monitor budget and schedule for assigned tasks
• Works in a team environment, coordinates requirements with other engineering and design disciplines
• Provides technical direction to subordinate team members
• Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable company and client standards

• BSEE or MSEE. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in substation electrical/physical engineering with a thorough knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted procedures
• Professional Engineering license required
• Has the ability to quickly develop broader knowledge through performing structured functional assignments, such as collecting and analyzing data related to specific tasks.
• Independently works through individual projects and/or takes the lead role in broader projects
• Computer proficiency required as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as well as having the ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required
