Location: Knik-Fairview
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities seeks an Engineer/Architect 1 or 2 to lead civil engineering projects statewide, from preliminary design through final construction advertising. The role involves directing multidisciplinary teams, conducting field reconnaissance, and producing engineering deliverables for road and airport capital improvement projects. This is a flexible/hybrid position with frequent travel to remote Alaska project sites.
Key qualifications- Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect registration (PE or Architect; comity-eligible if registered outside Alaska)
- For E/A 2: one year professional experience as Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with State of Alaska or equivalent
- Civil engineering knowledge of highway, airport, transportation systems, and public works
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license required; ability to travel frequently to remote sites in small aircraft
