Location: Fort Wainwright
Duties
* Inspect work areas for potential hazards and recommends solutions.
* Collect data from surveys to prepare reports in automate systems.
* Perform respirator fit testing in accordance with established policy and procedure.
* Maintain records associated with maintenance and calibration of equipment.
* Perform sampling using standard methods to establish nature and degree of hazards. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
* Tier 3 Positions (Secret):
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* Tier 3 Positions (Secret): A background investigation and credit check are required.
* Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
* A pre-placement medical examination is required.
* Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
* Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes identifying potential health hazards; ensuring compliance with established occupational safety and health regulations; or utilizing automated systems to prepare a variety of technical reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR
Education:
One year of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management. OR Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-8 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes providing information to employees on safety or occupational health subjects; collecting exposure data to assess work practices and environmental conditions; and monitoring exposure data to assess environmental conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR
Education:
One and a half years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management. OR Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 9.
Add the two percentages. GS-9 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes conducting inspections and preparing reports using automated systems; evaluating potential health hazards to recommend mitigating courses of action; and training employees in safety or occupational health subjects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR
Education:
Two years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
