Location: Preference is hybrid from our Exton, PA office but open to someone home-based in the United States.

Position Summary

Bentley Systems is looking for a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead the company's global revenue recognition and reporting function. The role reports to the VP, Finance and is responsible for maintaining documentation and oversight of the application of company accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulation on a global basis. This is a high‑profile position with direct visibility to the CFO, CRO and other members of the executive management team.

Responsibilities
  • Global process owner for revenue accounting and analysis function; lead a growing team of five colleagues.
  • Oversee and manage month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, including Rev Pro administration, journal entry review, account reconciliations, disclosures, and ad‑hoc analysis.
  • Develop strong business partnerships with sales, legal and other teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and support business growth.
  • Assist the Portfolio Development and acquisition team in reviewing the revenue recognition policies of target companies.
  • Hold responsibility for the company’s overall compliance with ASC 606 and oversee review of sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and/or review technical accounting positions on new complex arrangements.
  • Oversee quarterly analysis of revenue performance and key metrics disclosed in the MD&A section of the company’s SEC filings.
  • Drive worldwide fair value policy and manage worldwide SSP analysis and compliance.
  • Consult with senior leadership, product and operations counterparts on revenue recognition and its impact on new and existing business models.
  • Oversee all aspects of the external audit related to contract reviews and revenue recognition worldwide.
  • Liaise with external auditors to evaluate new arrangements and technical accounting issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls for revenue processes.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand the QTC and revenue recognition process, streamline processes, and support changes to commercial offerings and acquisition integration.
  • Coordinate between functions to identify and facilitate data analytics, visual dashboards and reports for key business initiatives, new strategies, or KPIs.
  • Travel to the Exton, PA office quarterly if not local; additional minimal travel may be required.
  • Perform physical requirements such as sitting or standing at will while working on a computer.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and CPA required with strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, specifically software revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including Big 4 and public company experience.
  • Experience working for or serving companies in the software or technology industry.
  • Rev Pro and Sales Force/Workday ERP knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills; ability to build relationships.
  • Highly productive and dependable team player.
  • Proven ability to work well in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.
