This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

This position is being recruited for in Dutch Harbor.

What you will be doing:

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Environmental Health, Food Safety and Sanitation Program is seeking an energetic and proactive environmental health professional to serve as an Environmental Health Officer 3 in our Dutch Harbor office.

This position is sole representative in the Dutch Harbor office is primarily responsible for permitting, conducting inspections, technical regulatory assistance, complaint investigation for retail food facilities, manufacturing food facilities and public facilities (pool/spa operations and body art shops). The work may include regular travel to other areas of Alaska.

The Environmental Health Officer 3 is a professional-level position for staff who have positions in which staff independently perform routine acts as an office lead.

Environmental Health Officers work directly with regulated establishments- educating them on food safety and sanitation standards and communicating with establishment owners and employees to ensure these standards are being implemented. The working environment you can expect:

This position is located in the Dutch Harbor DEC office. The work environment is friendly, professional, and collaborative. The Food Safety and Sanitation Program maintains a positive team atmosphere with staff statewide both in-person and through group discussions on Microsoft Teams.

Our staff are now working a combination of in-person (in the office) and teleworking. This position is a combination of fieldwork and office/desk work. There are frequent opportunities to travel to other locations in the state for inspections, audits, and training.
