- Entry level applicants MUST complete the PST Law Enforcement Exam, this testing requirement may be waived based on years of field police experience.
Unalaska Police Officers may join the Public Safety Employee Association(PSEA). The City of Unalaska and PSEA entered into a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) on April 8, 2025, this CBA is valid through June 31, 2027.
Completing the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) is not required, new hires must be able to meet the fitness standards while attending the Academy.

Driving Automatic 2 or more traffic crime convictions in last 10 years (DWI, Suspended, Reckless, etc.).

Drug Usage Automatic Illegal use of ANY controlled substance while employed in a criminal justice capacity.
Automatic No illegal sale of ANY drug, including marijuana.
Potential Other drug use outside these standards will be considered on case by case basis.
Criminal Activity Automatic Any adult felony conviction.
Automatic Been convicted of any crime under a domestic violence statue.
Potential Adult misdemeanor convictions will be carefully reviewed.
Potential Juvenile felony conviction will be carefully reviewed.
Automatic Convicted within the past 10 years of a crime of dishonesty or a crime of moral turpitude.
Employment Automatic Been dishonorably discharged from the United States armed forces.
Automatic Lied during any stage of the hiring process.
Automatic Falsified his or her application, personal history questionnaire, or any other forms during hiring process.
Automatic Previous revocation or denial of (CJTC/POST) certified status, or suspension of current (CJTC/POST) certified status.
