Adult Probation Officer Positions

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for multiple Adult Probation Officer 1/2A's for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing classification reviews, evaluating prisoners for eligibility for community supervision, processing applications, preparing and submitting reports for parole, providing sworn testimony in parole hearings, completing hearings for various classification actions, as well as several caseload and security functions.
  • Processing release paperwork, including Notices of Release to Supervision, Interstate Compact Applications, transportation requests, sex offender registrations, victim notifications, voter rights restoration and request supplemental parole conditions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintaining a detailed operational knowledge of a myriad of rules attached to the processing of all release documentation.
  • Coordinating with EM Officers to schedule visits of an inmate's proposed places of residence and employment to determine if they are suitable for such placement.
  • Reviewing all current judgements to determine if an inmate has court-ordered treatment obligations while incarcerated, which may include substance abuse treatment, anger management, sex offender treatment, or other programs deemed necessary by the court.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. Probation Officers at Goose Creek are given their own office instead of a workstation and will interact with inmates daily.
