We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Patient Service Representative in the Healthcare/NHS industry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The prospective candidate will be primarily engaged in managing patient services and administrative tasks. This role is based in a fast-paced healthcare setting where the focus is on enhancing patient satisfaction and healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and guests, providing direction and assistance as necessary.
- Oversee the completion of required paperwork such as intake documents and insurance forms by patients.
- Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirmation, and cancellation.
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of patient medical records, ensuring they are compiled, recorded, and archived accurately.
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and documents, directing them to the appropriate staff.
- Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining an inventory of supplies and placing orders as required.
- Dispatch medical records, correspondence, and other documents via mail, email, or fax.
- Ensure accurate completion of financial functions such as copay collection, reconciliation, and deposits.
- Assist the billing department in addressing insurance denials by monitoring and working on worklists in the electronic medical records system.
- Provide support to the patient care team as directed by healthcare management including physical therapists and speech-language pathologists.
- Effectively manage challenging patient situations and implement service recovery techniques to maintain positive patient relations.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting or similar customer service environment is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle patient queries and concerns with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare procedures is beneficial.
- Proficiency in managing patient records and maintaining confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines.
- Capable of multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and managing time efficiently.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; further education in healthcare administration or medical field is a plus.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and photocopiers.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing development and training programs.
- Availability to work in different shifts, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
- Fluency in additional languages could be advantageous for communicating with diverse patient groups.
