The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. Position Summary: ACT is an acronym for “Access to Collaborative Treatment.” Collaborative treatment refers to a model of care in which primary care providers and mental health providers collaborate to ensure social, emotional, and cognitive factors are identified and mitigate the impact on physical complaints. ACT services are effective for a variety of mental and emotional disturbances including trauma, depression, grief, anxiety, chronic pain, suicidality, and childhood disorders.
ACT takes a trauma informed, strengths-based, person-centered approach and employs evidence‑based interventions such as Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Problem‑Solving Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
ACT services are located within the medical Outpatient Clinic and ACT Clinicians work alongside the medical staff.
Position Qualifications
- Minimum Education:
Master’s degree in a human services related field (Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Social Work). - Minimum Experience:
Completion of an accredited Master level degree program and at least one year of direct clinical care experience with individuals, families, and groups, including assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling, and documentation. - License &
Certifications:
Preferred LMFT, LPC, LBHP or LCSW. Must be working toward or obtain Alaska licensure within six months of hire. - Equipment/Tools:
Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with standard office equipment. - Specialized Knowledge &
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication, cultural competency, teamwork, rapport building, organization, time management, and prioritization.
