Company Overview

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural southwest Alaska. Bethel is the regional hub with a population of nearly 7,000. Position Summary

Provides primary (acute, chronic, and preventive) health care and emergency care to those seeking health services at the village clinic.

Position Qualifications
  • Must be a resident of the village or agree to relocate to serve as a Community Health Aide/Practitioner.
  • Ability to communicate in English; preference for speaking the local language of the village.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Bethel and/or other training sites for basic training sessions and required trainings.
  • Required to participate in preventative and chronic care activities as appropriate to level of training.
  • Must agree to abide by CHAP policies and procedures while in training and in the village.
  • Ability to provide year‑round coverage, including summers, and itinerant (“float”) coverage to other YKHC villages as assigned.
  • Full‑time float CHA/Ps will function in the same capacity as all other CHA/Ps, except serving villages on an itinerant basis as determined by the Field Supervision Coordinator.
  • Minimum Education:

    At least 18 years old, high school diploma or GED, and 8th‑grade level reading, writing, and math (TABE).
  • Minimum Experience:

    Positive work history and nomination by the Traditional or IRA Council of the village to be served.
  • License, Certification, Registration:
    Must attend Health Aide Sessions I–IV to become a certified CHP, be certified ETT or EMT, and meet YKHC re‑entry guidelines if rehired.
  • Equipment/Tools:
    Experience with Microsoft Word and email; proficiency with RPMS and Telehealth within 3 months of hire.
  • Specialized Knowledge:
    Mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent); language skills for reading, writing, and presenting information to customers, clients, and employees.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    May be tasked to be a Lead Health Aide.
