Job Description Behavioral Health Clinician FLSA Status:
Exempt Department Behavioral Health Reports to Director of Behavioral Health Position Summary The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, and treatment for clients and their families to a diverse patient population across the spectrum of care provided by Petersburg Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Understands, promotes and follows the Mission and Guiding Values of Petersburg Medical Center.
- Conducts assessments and provides individual, family, and group therapy.
- Develops and implements treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
- Consults and collaborates with primary care staff and behavioral health providers, providing education, support, and real-time consultation to primary care providers.
- Documents patient progress and maintains accurate and up-to-date records within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Provides crisis intervention and support to patients and their families.
- Maintains ethical and professional standards in accordance with licensing requirements.
- Maintains compliance with state, payer, and accreditation standards.
- Maintains updated knowledge of current behavioral health practices, trends, and evidence-based interventions.
- Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Working Conditions
- Works in a clean, well-lit environment around patients, residents, family members and employees
- May use a computer, fax machine and basic office equipment
- Will need to have the ability to work correctly and efficiently while engaging with staff.
Qualifications
- Education
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related behavioral health field. - Training and Experience
- Strong clinical background in mental health or substance use treatment services. - Licensing
- Current Alaska license as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Counselor, or Professional Counselor or able to attain license within 90 days of hire date.
