- Responsibilities:
Coordinate with clinical department chiefs, physicians, and other health care providers for the coding and timely completion of medical records;
Review medical records each month to ensure compliance with standards from the Joint Commission as well as the Defense Health Agency Patient Administration Division and Medical Coding Program Branch;
Supervise and plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, including establishment of priorities and preparation of schedules for completion of work;
Make decisions on medico-legal matters regarding compliance and release of information issues;
Audit medical records to determine that appropriate codes describing diseases, injuries, operations, and non-surgical procedures are developed and entered into medical records based on documentation contained therein
