Counseling Director

Job Description

Summary: The Counseling Director/Direct Services Director provides direct counseling to victims and directs the counseling department. This includes program development, education on the effects of trauma and sexual assault and working as a member of the victim services leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:

• Provide individual and group counseling to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crime.
• Provide individual and group counseling to significant others of victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, and other violent crime.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate counseling coordinator, clinicians, and administrative assistant.
• Responsible for interfacing with directors of all victim service programs to assure the continued provision of appropriate and adequate awareness, access, and advocacy to all program service recipients.
• Oversee client waiting list
• Provide informal counseling consultation to other providers when requested
• Stay current on legislative and policy issues that affect our counseling work
• Continually assess departmental training and educational needs
• Coordinate and conduct weekly Counseling Hour meetings/trainings, in-service trainings, and other ongoing counseling training opportunities
• Provide trainings and technical assistance to internal and external providers as needed.
• Provide counseling information and resources for other VS departments as needed
• Help write and review applications for VS grants as needed
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements as well as documentation and reporting of those requirements.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to enhance services for our clients
• Review all sexual assault files every six months per PCAR standards

Education and Experience:

• Counseling Licensure required.
• Master's Degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years comparable work experience.
• Must complete PCAR/PCCD/PCADV advocate training within 90 days of employment.
• Act 33, Act 151, and FBI clearances.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of sexual assault and incest dynamics and appropriate interventions.
• Demonstrated experience in assessing the needs of sexual violence victims.
• Knowledge of community referral resources.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be available for occasional events outside of normal business hours as needed.
