The Health and Safety Manager provides leadership, guidance, andexpertiseto business units in the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, standards, policies, and processes.
You will ensure compliance with legislative requirements andfacilitatethe effective use of the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS).
In this role,you willequip line management and field personnel with the necessary tools, information, and awareness to address health and safety concerns proactively. Through expert guidance and support,you willwork to mitigate risks, prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, and foster a strong culture of workplace safety.
Your Role & Impact:Safety Leadership
Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of safety, health andlosscontrol processes and systems within the assigned regional areas.
Participate in the effective development, delivery and implementation of health & safety policies, programs and communications that support the implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment Improvement Plan (HSE-IP) across the business units within scope.
Thedevelopment, implementation and direction of the facility’s Occupational Health and Safety Program andwill continually strive to support the company’s goals to provide a safe and healthy workplacetoallemployees.
Assist unit management in the development and implementation of the H&S Improvement Plan objectives,identifyingimprovementareasand developing associated action plans.
Determinethrough needs-analysis the requirements and priorities for safe work processes in maintenance and operational functions with a focus on high-risk tasks.
Support site management tofacilitatethe early and safe return to work for employees who are injured or become ill at work.
- Provide analysis and interpretation of health and safety metrics and key performance indicators.
- Provide H&S statistical information and key indicators in a meaningful format for business units and management teams to support effective decision-making.
- Works to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and fulfillment of contractual environmental, health and safety requirements.
- Provideon-going coaching to management teams on their responsibilities with respect to applicable legislative and corporate health & safety requirements and provide assistance todevelop solutions to achieve compliancetothose requirements.
- Develop and deliver health & safety training modules and programs reflective of applicable legislative requirements and corporate health & safety policies,procedures,and practices.
- Facilitate various training programs including, but not limited to, orientation, mobile equipment, crane, material handling, workplace specific hazardous material information systems, as well as several others as required.
- Facilitate andparticipatein incident/accident investigations and risk assessments.
- Develop corrective actions and follow up on actions to ensure compliance and root-cause analyses are completed according to incident type and risk.
- Assertively manage post-incident matters including incident reporting, post incident action items, Worker’s Compensation claims and Early and Safe Return to Work initiatives.
- Assistunits in preparation for periodic health & safety audits,monitorstatus of actions to address audit recommendations to ensure actions are completed on time, and provide assistance toidentifyand remove barriers to completion.
