- Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema
- Work with physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Conduct spirometry and comprehensive pulmonary function tests
- Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function tests
- Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
- Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
- Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
- Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort
- Communicate with pulmonologists and team members as needed
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow patient-safety protocols
- Travel occasionally to various populated areas within Alaska
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) preferred
- AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
- Must be available on occasional weekdays; no weekends
- Experience performing spirometry testing
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
Demonstrates expertise in assessing and treating patients with respiratory conditions, conducting pulmonary function tests, and educating patients on respiratory equipment and medications. Strong collaboration skills with healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure patient safety.
